We are so pleased we engaged Buildwells Builders Ltd for our downstairs renovation project – converting almost 90sqm of space into a fully self-contained and accessible 2-bedroom unit. In addition to carrying out the build work for the renovation with his team, Nick was the overall Project Manager from the time consents were lodged through to applying for and obtaining the Code of Compliance Certificate. We can’t advocate for the firm, and Nick himself, highly enough.
Nick’s communication (both verbal and written) has been outstanding throughout the project which has been particularly invaluable navigating the impacts of COVID this year. He listened, was timely, always followed up, gave thoughtful advice and was professional. The workmanship of him and his team of builders has been to the highest of standard, and they have been a delight to have in our home. The subcontractors that Nick had access to, engaged, and co-ordinated across the project to complete specialist work (plumbing, electrical, tiling etc) have also all carried out their work to very high standards and again have been a pleasure to work with. Nick needed to liaise with our draughtsperson, fire engineer and our own suppliers – all effectively done with flexibility and professionalism. Financially, it was great to have a full and transparent estimate of the work prior to engagement, and during the claims process Nick regularly updated with us on how these were tracking.
Passionate to add an accessible option to the housing stock, our family designed the unit to incorporate Universal Design Principals and to be assessed under the Lifemark® Official Standards. Lifemark® rated homes are designed to be usable and safe for people of all ages and stages. We were delighted our provisional pre-build 4-Star Rating was upgraded to a final rating of 5-Star and know the workmanship and commitment of Nick and his team contributed to this.
Overall, Nick and everyone he has brought onsite has respected us, our family, and our home, and all have worked with us to ensure our vision of delivering the space we wanted would become a reality. Many, many thanks. With confidence and without hesitation, we would recommend Nick and Buildwells Builders (and the subcontractors they used) to others. We have already re-engaged Buildwells ourselves for additional works in the New Year.

BuildWells Builders Ltd did an amazing job with extending our property! The communication from the beginning to the end of the project was excellent. As with any build, there were a few hiccups but everything was always dealt with promptly and sufficiently, and we were always kept informed. Every builder and contractor that worked on our project were always respectful of the rest of our property, and they just got on and did what they needed to. The full project went better than what we initially expected, especially after the actual build starting a few months after coming out of Covid – 19 lockdown!
